Celebrating their 85th anniversary this year, Doerr Furniture takes pride in offering the finest quality furniture from well-respected retailers like Stickley, Massoud, Hooker, and more.  From heirloom quality, solid wood bedroom sets to contemporary leather recliners, they offer an extensive selection of customizable furniture that is not only certain to fit your unique taste and style, but will last for generations.

Doerr Furniture was founded by Charles L. Doerr, Sr. in 1938 and continues to serve its loyal customers throughout Southeast Louisiana and the Gulf South.  They are now a fourth-generation family business, rooted in the history of New Orleans.

Located in a former Ford Motor dealership in the Faubourg Marigny, Doerr Furniture originally began as a wholesale business selling rocking chairs crafted in the Family’s back shed before transitioning into a retailer that sold furniture and appliances.  While in business, the building was commandeered during World War II and played a part in the transport of materials via the railroad track along the Mississippi River located a few blocks away.  After achieving victory, Doerr was able to fine tune its business motto and discovered the value of quality furniture and superior service.  Along with the day-to-day operations at Doerr Furniture, Charles, Sr. also helped found Metairie Bank and Rhodoro Furniture.

Charles’ daughter, Marilyn, married Lloyd Mutter in 1949, and the couple would go on to have five children; Julian, Gary, David, Randy, and Melanie.  Lloyd and Marilyn would eventually gain ownership of Doerr Furniture, where they instilled the importance of hard work and understanding of customer’s needs into their children.  Starting in their teenage years until now, the five children, with the addition of grandchildren, help oversee the operations side of Doerr Furniture and its mattress affiliate, Bedding Plus.

To this day, the Mutter Family believes that the focus is on you, the customer, and strives to provide unparalleled customer service.  From the first greeting at the showroom to the delivery of your furniture and after, Doerr Furniture’s aim is to welcome you into the Doerr Family.

David Mutter, President of Doerr Furniture, is leading the company to its next level of growth while continuing to uphold its core values.  His vision is to bring in higher quality, Made-In-America furniture to keep with the traditional New Orleans style/vibe.
