LOVE THE MARIGNY CLEANUP AND BEAUTIFICATION DAY

    Saturday, April 20th, 11 AM - 4 PM

A neighborhood cleanup day is traditionally held the third Saturday of each month in the Marigny Rectangle.  We will be expanding this monthly ritual to coincide with Keep Louisiana Beautiful's Love The Boot Week, holding a larger Love The Marigny Cleanup and Beautification Day.  Our efforts will span across a larger geographic footprint of the neighborhood, and we will work from 11:00AM until 4:00PM, allowing volunteers to join for all or part of the time.

Meet at Pepp's Pub, 706 Franklin Ave., to assemble and gather supplies, including an event t-shirt, gloves, trash bags, recycling bags, and a drink ticket.

Clean for as long as you are able and then have a Mimosa or Bloody Mary on the house, compliments of Pepp's Pub!

    MARIGNY RECTANGLE

Trash and Recycling pickups occur on the same day, in the early morning hours, by two different trucks, one after the other.  Rest assured that your recyclables are not being dumped in with the trash.

Citizens can place the following household items out for Curbside Recycling:

    Plastics #1 and #2 (milk/juice/shampoo/detergent containers)

Newspapers, junk mail, phone books, catalogs, office paper

    Corrugated cardboard

    Boxboard (cereal boxes/soft drink boxes)

    Small aluminum and steel cans

PLEASE NOTE:  Recyclables CANNOT be bagged.  They must be loose in your designated recycling cart.

The following household items are NOT eligible for Curbside Recycling and must be taken to the Dropoff Center on Saturdays:

    Glass (Limit 50 lbs.)

E-Waste (computers, laptops, telephones/telephone systems, keyboards, speakers, telephone/computer cables, X-boxes, PlayStation, Wii, MP3/DVD/CD players, UPS, Circuit boards, Portable Navigation/GPS devices, ink jet/toner cartridges, digital cameras/video recorders (DVRs), fax machines, small printers, monitors, processors, networking equipment, stereos, security systems)

    Batteries (AA, AAA, AAAA, C, D, 6 & 9 volt, Lithium)

    Light bulbs (incandescent and fluorescent)

    Televisions (Limit 4)

    Tires (Limit 5)

    Mardi Gras Beads

*Please note: No composting materials accepted at this time.

    More information: visit nola.gov/sanitation/recycling/.

To register for Free Curbside Recycling, call 311.  Free Curbside Recycling is available to Orleans Parish residents.

REMINDER:  Per City Ordinance, trash and recycling carts are not to be placed out for pickup until after 4pm the night before the designated pickup day, and are to be removed from the public right of way as soon as possible after pickup has occurred.  It is not permissible to keep carts in front of your house on a permanent basis.  The only exception is for those that do not have an alleyway to accommodate passage of the carts.  However, you can request a smaller size cart.  Now with only once a week pickup, you can also request an additional cart.
